Movie Review: Rachel Getting Married

Of note: The main character’s name is not “Kim” but “Kym,” but this is never spelled out in the movie itself. Literally.

Also of note: Rachel Getting Married is a sci fi epic in which the work of the extra-terrrestrial is almost completely subtextualized. What aliens have abducted Kym’s younger brother? From whence come the poodles that Kym draws in the margins of her notebooks? We never find out the answers to these questions, but it is the questions themselves that matter, that resonate like the undercurrent’s ripple rising up in a stream, a stream as deep as a well, a well as deep as how pretty pretty pretty Anne Hathaway is.
